Our mission is rooted in a deep commitment to quality of service. We serve Edmonton and surrounding area.
You hire us! Our grinder will chew up the remaining stump and roots to depth of 14 inches in an area that is clear of utility lines. Often grinding 6 to 8 inches below the surfaces all that’s necessary for you to replace the tree with sod or grass seed.
Of course, many DIY projects begin with renting the equipment to work at your own pace and to learn a new skill. Our machine comes with an experienced operator that will not only do a fantastic job but also has the experience to trouble shoot any issues that arise. Generally, the machines that you can rent are not professional machines, and will generally not do an adequate job unless it is a very tiny stump. Our machine is a Bandit SG40 - a powerful track unit that fits through 30 inch gates.
While you don’t need a permit to remove a stump or roots in your own yard. It’s important to ensure that the work you’re doing is indeed on your property. In addition - We always recommend folks contact One Call - a no cost service within the province of Alberta to locate any utility lines before a job commences. We generally don’t recommend planting a tree in the exact same spot but small shrubs or grass is fine. Shifting the position of a new tree a few feet to one side of the other is generally best practice.
During the course of grinding the stump, surrounding dirt is mixed with small pieces of wood from the roots and stump and is raked to a pile and left onsite. This makes great mulch or strata to lay sod or grass seed on.
All rock or landscaping ties need to be moved back at least 2 feet from the area that needs to be ground.
Our machine fits through 30 inch gates and openings on a ground level. In newer communities, we are seeing houses built quite close together and with the addition of air conditioning units it can make the space un accessible. We ask that homeowners measure the space to ensure there’s at least 30 inches of clearance from the street or alley into the area to be ground. The machine can navigate slightly uneven ground, if however, you have quite high raised beds. We would need to do an on-site consultation before moving ahead with an estimate.
Most property owners know where the utilities and communication lines are on their property however; It is always best to have Telus fibre optic, sprinkler systems, and all utilities marked before work commences.
